- What is a premarket gainer?
- A stock whose price in the 4:00am to 9:30am Eastern session is above its previous close, usually ranked by percentage change on a scanner.
- Where can I see premarket gainers?
- Most brokers show a premarket movers list, and free sites publish one. The lists differ because each provider uses a different volume floor.
- Do premarket gainers keep going up?
- Often not. Thin early volume exaggerates the move, and the regular session frequently gives back a large part of it in the first fifteen minutes.
- What causes a stock to gap up premarket?
- Earnings beats, guidance raises, acquisition news, trial results and analyst upgrades are the common ones. No visible catalyst is itself a warning.
- Should beginners trade premarket gainers?
- It is one of the harder places to start. Wide spreads and thin books punish market orders, and the moves reverse quickly.
